Manager

The Manager module of ShipConstructor provides management of the libraries for any ship project. It also provides pre-defined and customisable reporting for all aspects of structural and mechanical systems.

Manager is the interface to the heart of ShipConstructor: the powerful SQL Server based central database. As well as holding detailed part definitions for all structural and mechanical components in the ship, the database also serves as a repository for libraries of stocks, definitions of naming conventions, standard styles for annotation and Bills of Materials. This common data source ensures consistency throughout the shipbuilding team, even across multiple construction sites.

Manager provides a powerful user permissions system giving each user exactly the privileges they require, while maintaining security against accidental data loss. Access can be controlled by function and by project. Users can perform only those tasks for which they have been given the appropriate permissions in Manager. This restricts changes to the project to those who are qualified and authorized to make the changes.

The stock library can be controlled from Manager. Existing data can be imported via XML files. These files can also be used to transport libraries between two different locations, simplifying cooperative work between yards or designers. The XML schema is publicly available and can be used to integrate ShipConstructor with any other applications or databases.

Manager includes a comprehensive system for reporting. Based on the widely used Crystal Reports, a range of pre-defined reports are provided, however these can be customised and extended as required. Assembly reports provide up-to-date weight and CG for each part and assembly, while profile reports provide accurate cut lists for each profile in the ship on an assembly-by-assembly basis including the raw profiles needed. Nest and pipe reports complete the production documentation.
