BuildStrategy

BuildStrategy provides assembly and construction sequence planning using a completely graphical interface.

BuildStrategy utilises advanced relational database features to implement an assembly structure or Product Work Breakdown Structure (PWBS). This provides an easy to use approach to manage very large and complex ship designs. The BuildStrategy tree uses a familiar Windows interface to design the PWBS. Individual parts are later added by the draftsmen when defining them in Structure, Pipe, Equipment or HVAC modules. The arrangement of parts can be easily changed for production planning using the BuildStrategy tree.

BuildStrategy drawings are made by combining all relevant structural, equipment and piping drawings into one large drawing which is used to setup and check the build strategy. This is achieved by using either graphical display and selection of each assembly, or by using the tree to drag and drop items to their appropriate assembly.

Terminology and assembly strategies vary from yard to yard and so BuildStrategy supports complete customisation of both the naming and number of levels in the PWBS. Whether you are using Grand Blocks, Blocks, Units, Modules, Assemblies or Sub-Assemblies, BuildStrategy can accommodate them.

The PWBS defined in BuildStrategy forms the basis for all production output. Assembly drawings and production reports are all generated based on the defined sequence in the tree.

The flexibility of BuildStrategy ensures that production output can be tailored to suit the particular needs of the project, even if it is distributed across multiple yards with different build strategies between yards.

BuildStrategy is an important part of the link between design and production. By bringing production planners in to the shipbuilding process at an earlier stage, communication is enhanced and overall construction costs can be reduced.
